Titles: Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI)

An FCI show, sanctioned by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI), is a dog show where purebred dogs are judged against breed standards. The FCI is the world's largest international federation of national kennel clubs. FCI shows are significant because they contribute to the maintenance of breed standards and the qualification of judges.

Here's a more detailed explanation:

FCI Recognition:

FCI recognizes and sanctions dog breeds and shows globally.

Breed Standards:

Judges use FCI breed standards to evaluate dogs in the ring, ensuring they meet the breed's specific physical and temperament requirements.

Judges:

FCI-licensed judges must be qualified and competent, ensuring fair and accurate judging of dogs at FCI-sanctioned events.

International Championships:

FCI shows can lead to the awarding of international titles, such as the International Champion title.

CACIB Award:

FCI shows often offer the CACIB (Certificat d'Aptitude au Championnat International de Beauté), which is a vital award for dogs pursuing international championships.

To achieve an FCI title in Australia, you need to accumulate a specific number of CACIBs (Certificats d'Aptitude à la Championnat International de Beauté) at FCI-recognized shows within a certain timeframe and according to Dogs Australia's regulations. You'll also need to apply for the title through your state member body of Dogs Australia

Here's a more detailed breakdown:

1. CACIB Requirements:

For the International Champion title (CIB), you need to achieve 4 CACIBs in 2 different Australian states, under 3 different judges, and from 3 different FCI member countries.

 2. International Show Champion (CIE):

For non-working breeds, you can also aim for the CIE title, which requires similar CACIBs but specific for show champions.

 3. Application Process:

  • The registered owner(s) of the dog must complete the application form provided by Dogs Australia

Include copies of the pedigree (front and rear) and the CACIB certificates.

Submit the application, along with the prescribed fee, to your state member body via email in PDF format.

Your member body will verify the information and forward it to Dogs Australia for application to the FCI.

4. FCI Approval:

If the FCI approves the application, your member body will be notified and issue a new pedigree reflecting the title.

Important Notes:

  • CACIBs earned in Australian states can also be used towards an FCI International Champion title earned internationally.

The application process and requirements are detailed in Dogs Australia's procedure
